A two-faced, reversible crepe back satin — smooth satin shine on one face, matte crepe on the reverse — engineered for formal gowns, bridal, eveningwear, and bridesmaid dresses that need both surface options in a single fabric.
Crepe Back Satin (also sold as "Satin Back Crepe" or "SBC fabric") is a 100% polyester woven satin where the front and reverse are intentionally different textures. The face is smooth and lustrous with a soft, controlled sheen. The reverse is a fine matte crepe with a subtle pebbled hand. Both sides are fully finished and designed to be used. Milled in Korea at approximately 181 gsm (~5.3 oz/yd²) in 54/55" width, this is a mid-weight formal satin held in a 59-color library — one of the deepest crepe back satin palettes available by the yard.

The satin face is cool, smooth, and fluid against the skin, with a luminous but controlled sheen — closer to a soft pearl finish than a high-gloss mirror. The crepe back has a subtle pebbled matte hand with a fine, even grain; light absorbs rather than reflects, giving the surface a quiet, modern look. Combined hand is mid-weight with body-following drape — closer to duchess satin in body than to charmeuse, but with the crepe back adding a softer fall and useful micro-friction that helps the fabric hang straight rather than slip on a hanger or stand.

What is crepe back satin?
A two-faced woven satin where the front is smooth lustrous satin and the reverse is a fine matte crepe with a subtle pebbled texture. Both sides are fully finished and designed to be used. Also called satin back crepe or SBC fabric — same construction, different naming.
Is it good for wedding dresses?
Yes — one of the strongest use cases. The two-faced construction lets you use the satin face for the body of a gown and the matte crepe for self-lined lapels, cuffs, sashes, bound edges, or a fully reversible cape. Mid-weight body holds clean lines for structured bodices while draping on a bias-cut skirt.
Is it good for bridesmaid dresses?
Yes, and the 59-color library is the reason it works at scale. Bridal parties needing four to twelve dresses in matching shades benefit from the depth of the in-stock palette, and the dual face lets the designer assign satin to some pieces and matte crepe to others within one coherent fabric story.
Crepe back satin vs duchess satin — which should I choose?
Duchess satin is heavy (200–280 gsm), single-faced, and high-shine — built for architectural ball gowns and cathedral-scale silhouettes. Crepe back satin is lighter (~181 gsm), reversible, and built for modern formal with both shape and drape. Choose duchess for cathedral scale; choose crepe back for modern formal with reversible detail.
Is it good for napkins, runners, and table overlays?
Excellent. Fold one way for shine, the other for matte — the same napkin or runner delivers two distinct looks. Mid-weight body sits cleanly on table edges without slipping, and the 59-color library matches almost any palette. For full floor-length banquet tablecloths as the only covering, choose a heavier event satin; crepe back satin is the premium overlay and runner option.
How do you press it?
On low (polyester setting), on the reverse first, with a press cloth. Direct high-heat iron contact will scorch or develop shine marks on the satin face. Steam is the safer option for both faces. Always test on a scrap.
