This low leverage bit is ideal for a horse with a good mouth and neck reins consistently. Sweet iron is a preferred mouth piece material because it naturally rusts into a light patina to create a sweet taste for the horse, This makes the bit more acceptable by increasing salivation for a supple mouth. Cheeks curve backward, but not as much as on the 651 Reinsman "C" Bit. Stage C bits are built for riders and horses who love neck reining. Horses who respond well to poll pressure are in Stage C.
