This is a complete issue, retaining original wrappers, of this foundational Singapore printed journal of early East Asian Science. This issue was printed by Jacob Baptist, an important early printer in Singapore.

The Journal of the Indian Archipelago and Eastern Asia was founded by James Richardson Logan. It brought together ethnology, geography and commerce in the diverse port of Singapore which had British, Chinese, Malay, Indian and indigenous populations. This volume contains a broad range of articles including Dutch colonial activity, the Naning war, Raffles and Malacca.
