The Armstrong Whitworth FK8 was a British WW1 reconnaissance bomber. The prototype flight took place in 1916. The plane was characterized by a biplane layout and had a fixed landing gear - in the classic layout. Its length was 9.58 meters with a wingspan of 13.26 meters. The drive was provided by a single Beardmore engine with a capacity of 120 HP. The maximum speed was up to 155 km / h. The deck armament consisted of two 7.7 mm machine guns. The plane could also take a load of bombs weighing up to 118 kilograms.

The FK8 aircraft was designed by Dutch aviation constructor Frederick Koolhoven, and the production was the responsibility of Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft. The machine, initially called FK7, was to replace the Royal Aircraft Factory BE2 and Armstrong Whitworth FK3 aircraft in the line. The new machine, compared to its predecessors, had a larger wingspan and fuselage and was characterized by the use of a different power unit. FK8 aircraft in the course of service turned out to be quite successful and highly effective. They played the role of reconnaissance planes, artillery observation machines, assault machines, and light bombers. After 1918, machines of this type were also used in training by the British Air Force. It was also exported to Paraguay and Australia.
