As a genuine 1997 true first edition, first impression, this text represents one of the rarest and most intensely scrutinized milestones in modern book collecting. Bloomsbury originally issued a highly conservative print run of only 500 hardcover copies, 300 of which were sent directly to public libraries, leaving a mere 200 copies for bookstore retail. In accordance with the true first editions, the copyright page on this book features a full "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1" descending number line; and page 53 explicitly repeats the item "1 wand" twice at both the top and bottom of the school supply checklist.

The front cover features an vibrant orange morocco spine with five raised bands and gilt lettering, flanked by a magnificent pictorial inlay of the original cover art showing Harry Potter in front of the Hogwarts Express on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. The back cover contrasts beautifully in royal blue morocco leather accented by an inlaid silhouette of the original ‘young Dubledore’ artwork, while the interior is finished with ivory moiré silk doublures and endpapers, and the page edges are gilded in a striking silver leaf with embedded holographic stars. This transformation elevates the rarest book of the modern era into an unyielding, high-art showpiece. Also housed in a unique custom designed clamshell box which doubles as a display box.
