Introduced in 2016, and somewhat overlooked for the beginning of its time due to being launched alongside the hugely-popular Ceramic Daytonas in steel, it did take a good few years for people to realise the impeccable looks and historical importance of such watch. At heart, the watch is just a reference 116508, which is the yellow gold Daytona available with a range of dials, from plain colours, to diamond hour markers and more.
Described as “bright green” by Rolex themselves, the dial actually displays a range of different looks depending on the light in which the watch is within. Almost black and subtle in dark environments, yet vibrant and fun in more sunny and bright environments, one almost gets two watches for the price of one with this wristwatch. Housed within the watch is Rolex’s ever-reliable self-winding calibre 4130 movement, which boasts a 72-hour power reserve, all whilst being cased in a 40mm case which is water resistant to 100 meters.
