A fine mid-18th century French Louis XVI period commode sauteuse handcrafted of walnut in the South of France near Gordes, circa 1750s. Having its original Carrara marble top with cookie cutter corners, this antique French chest of drawers, also referred to as a "jumping commode" because of its long legs and two large drawers, features two full length drawers adorned with brass fillets and the original brass drop bail handles and escutcheons. Supported on fluted stiles sitting on cylinder legs ending in brass sabots. Elegant yet unpretentious, this neoclassical commode with a beautifully aged patina is a perfect choice for both contemporary and traditional interiors. The scale of the drawers ensures an ample amount of storage.
